In Case of Emergency
WellPower Therapeutic Psychology does NOT provide emergency care.
In an emergency, CALL 911 or go to your nearest hospital emergency department or psychiatric hospital if someone can get you there safely.
Imminent danger of harm to self or others is considered an emergency. Always allow experts to assist you. Many law enforcement agencies have a Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) trained to assist with psychiatric emergencies and get you the help you need.
If you are the victim of a sexual assault, do not shower or change clothes. Go immediately to the nearest emergency department of a medical hospital. Do this even if you do not intend to press charges.
If you are an Established Client with an emergency:
- Always get emergency care first—get to a safe place! Call 911 for assistance.
- Call (919) 475-2127 to notify your provider once you are safe. Usually this will be after you have been admitted to the hospital or discharged from the emergency department.
- Request a HIPAA release if you would like the staff at the hospital to speak with your provider.
- Trust the hospital staff and providers who are caring for you.
- When you are discharged, request another HIPAA release to send a copy of your hospital records to WellPower. Please contact us for the list of records requested.
- Make an appointment to see your provider within 1 week of discharge.
- Call 911 any time there is imminent danger to yourself or others. Many law enforcement agencies have a CIT officers.
