About Alicia

Alicia Blankenship, MSW, LCSW, LISW is the primary provider at WellPower Therapeutic Services. She is passionate about helping clients navigate life’s challenges—whether rooted in past or present trauma, unexpected stressors, or significant life transitions. Her goal is to support individuals and families in moving from overwhelm and uncertainty toward clarity, resilience, and meaningful change.

Alicia works with children, adults, and families to uncover the underlying causes of emotional distress, relational conflict, and behavioral patterns. Through a collaborative and strengths-based approach, she helps clients shift how they process emotions, improve their outlook, and build practical skills that lead to a more fulfilling and balanced life.

She earned undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Sociology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Southern California. Alicia is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the State of North Carolina and a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) in the State of South Carolina. She is also qualified to provide clinical supervision to other licensed social workers. Alicia has co-authored clinical policies and therapeutic protocols and has mentored numerous MSW interns from regional universities, including North Carolina State University, Barton College, and Liberty University.

Alicia takes a holistic, client-centered approach to therapy, helping clients identify and strengthen their natural talents and internal resources. She works with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, low self-confidence, post-traumatic stress, and other life stressors, with the ultimate aim of improving overall mental well-being. Clients develop more effective communication skills, healthier coping strategies, and tools for emotional regulation and mood stabilization.

Her work integrates emotional and psychological insight with awareness of social and environmental influences that may impact mental health. Alicia believes that compassionate, empathetic care—combined with building a strong, empowering support system—is essential for sustainable healing and long-term growth.

Alicia has extensive experience across a variety of mental health settings, providing in-home, outpatient, and telehealth services to children, adolescents, and adults facing a broad spectrum of emotional and behavioral challenges. She is rostered in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)—both widely recognized, evidence-based treatments for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

In addition to her trauma-focused expertise, Alicia is a Certified Parenting Coordinator, having completed specialized training through the Cooperative Parenting Institute and the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (AFCC). In this role, she works with high-conflict families to reduce litigation, improve communication, and promote child-centered decision-making during and after separation or divorce.

Alicia has also received advanced training in multiple evidence-based psychotherapy models. She is trained in child forensic interviewing utilizing the structured Recognizing Abuse Disclosure types And Responding (RADAR) protocol and has completed Stewards of Children training in child sexual abuse recognition, response, and prevention through the East Carolina University Brody School of Medicine.

She is recognized for her expertise in forensic diagnostics, crisis prevention and intervention, and compassionate, trauma-informed counseling—particularly in cases involving child maltreatment, abuse, and neglect. Alicia is a strong advocate for child welfare and has provided testimony in numerous court proceedings involving child custody and family safety matters.

In her work with adults, Alicia supports clients navigating stress related to divorce, grief and loss, serious illness within the family, and experiences of crime or abuse. She helps adults address depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship challenges, and the lasting impact of traumatic experiences, including sexual assault and domestic violence. Her approach is evidence-based, grounded, empathetic, and focused on helping clients reclaim stability, confidence, and emotional well-being.
